Today, when companies are under pressure to cut costs, outsourcing non core activities has become the norm. The type of activities outsourced, the duration for which they are outsourced all depends on the company’s objectives and its long term goals. The area of activities outsourced can range from human resources to marketing to technical support or even be a single event or project related. Each type of activity outsourced has implications for on the short term and long term performance of the company.
Of these, event outsourcing or event management is probably one of the most popular forms of outsourcing. This is because; most companies hold in house and off site events for various purposes. For example, an offsite event for the launch of a brand, an out of city dealer meet, an in house function to honor the best employees and so on. Events which are held within the company can usually be taken care of by the human resources department itself. Events which are held outside are generally on a larger scale and therefore require the services of an outside vendor to take care of all the logistics.
